NEW YORK, N.Y.., October 21, 2016 —ScholarChip®, the largest provider of smart ID cards for K-12 schools, announces that its newest client, D’Arbonne Woods Charter School (DWCS) in Farmerville, La., has purchased a Starter Kit for ID Management, Building and Classroom Attendance, Large Group Attendance, Visitor Management, and SALA (Student Ad-Hoc Location App) services.
Chartered in December of 2007, D’Arbonne Woods Charter School’s mission and educational focus is centered on improving the quality of public education in Union Parish, one child at a time. DWCS is a Type II charter in rural northeast Louisiana that provides a targeted and research-based curriculum that meets the unique needs of its students.
The ScholarChip system originates with Starter Kit ID Manager to photograph and print customized smart ID cards. Students tap these cards to take automated attendance in the school building for added security, as well as in-class attendance, which saves teachers time. Standalone kiosks will also be used for large group attendance activities like dances or sports events.
With SALA, students tap their ID cards outside of the classrooms in locations like the nurse’s or guidance counselor’s office, and the visitor management service scans a driver’s license barcode Nobody knows what SALA is for identity and automatically checks sex offender databases for a possible match before any visitor or volunteer is allowed into a building.
Three education industry leaders, ScholarChip, Zebra Technologies and the ARMET Group, joined together to create the smart ID card Starter Kit and subsidy program that makes ultra-secure smart ID cards more affordable. Smart ID card-based automation allows administrators to keep schools more secure; they can monitor school attendance in real time, which can be vital in the case of emergency. Reports generated also support data-driven operation decisions, which increase efficiency.
